Evelyn Maxine Prater

August 27, 1924 - June 26, 2010

Evelyn Maxine Prater, 85, of Sebring, Florida, passed away peacefully at Tampa General Hospital on June 26, 2010. She was born in Decatur, Illinois, on August 27, 1924, and was the loving wife of Lynn Prater. They were married on a cruise on July 7, 2006.

Maxine attended school in Cowden, Illinois, and was a member of the First Christian Church. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. She attended Business College in Decatur, Illinois, and worked at Bastian Blessing in Chicago, Illinois. In Miami, Florida, she was a member of the Officer's Wives Club, Clipper Club, Duplicate Bridge Club adn worked several years as a Pink Lady at Baptist Hospital. Maxine was a former member of the Coral Ridge Yacht Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She was a member of the Duplicate Bridge Club in Sebring Florida.

Maxine is survived by her loving husband, Lynn Prater, daughters Dianna Lynn Drescher (Harry) of Ft. Lauderdale, Donna Lea Penny of Miami, and grandchildren, Trevor Drescher, Rodney Penny (Ana) and Debbie Penny.

Services were held at the Dowden Funeral Home Chapel, Sebring, on June 30, 2010 at 7 p.m. with Reverend Winfred White officiating. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to the time of the service. Burial willb e in the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida.
